Our Story | The Oyster Sled Invention
Getting together to eat fresh oysters and play cards was always a good time for my father, Ace, and his buddies, but not for me! It was my job to open oysters, and with only an old knife and towel, I kept stabbing myself and couldn’t keep up. So Ace welded together metal grating to a piece of pipe to hold the oyster shell until I could get it opened. Before you knew it, I was opening them faster than they could eat them. Decades later, I expanded on the original design, using food-grade stainless steel, and produced what you see today. I trust you will enjoy opening oysters as much as I do using the Oyster Sled.
