  • Our Mission

Safer, Easier Oyster Shucking for Everyone

The mission behind The Oyster Sled is simple: make oyster shucking safer, easier, and more enjoyable for anyone—from backyard seafood lovers to professional raw bar operators. Traditional oyster knives require force, precision, and risk tolerance. The Oyster Sled introduces a stabilization-first approach, reducing slips, hand injuries, and frustration while improving
    efficiency.

Built with durability and food-grade materials, the tool reflects a commitment to American craftsmanship and long-term reliability. The broader goal is not just selling a product but elevating the oyster experience—making gatherings, coastal traditions, and seafood culture more accessible to everyone.

  • Founding Story

    Innovation Born From Real-World Need

The Oyster Sled was invented by husband-and-wife
entrepreneurs Earl Geoghegan and Melanie Geoghegan, who recognized a common problem for Louisiana oyster lovers: opening oysters safely was harder than it should be. Like many coastal families, they enjoyed seafood gatherings, but the risks of slipping knives and hand injuries created frustration and hesitation.

What began as a practical solution evolved into a refined product after extensive testing, prototyping, and feedback from real users. Their story reflects grassroots American innovation—identifying a problem, engineering a solution, and bringing it to market with persistence and craftsmanship.

The result is a patented oyster stabilization platform designed to reduce risk while increasing confidence, speed, and enjoyment.
